I recently had a chance to give the Canon HF200 Camcorder a review, and see how it stacks up against some other products. What I found from my review has really impressed me. First, I'd like to tell you about some of the positives to the Canon HF200 Camcorder.

Here's some of the benefits I discovered -

.      Size - Weighing in at only 13.9 ounces, the HF200 is an extremely lightweight camcorder. It is also small enought to fit into a jacket pocket or purse. (2.8"x2.4"x4.9") Because of the size, it has a very comfortable grip that is easy to hold onto, along with readily accessible control buttons.

.      Video Snapshot Mode - This is a fun feature that I love about the HF200. You can create your own highlight reels of 4 second clips. The Video Snapshot Mode is controlled by a button on the side of the camcorder. There is a blue outline that appears on the display that lets you know that you will only be recording a short clip.

.      Image Quality - The HF200 has a sharp, quick focus ability, and the video looks amazing. Colors are deeply saturated and crisp. Solid images are produced in the dynamic range thanks to CigicDV3 processing. Recording indoors will produce those rich color images just as well as recording outdoors.

.      The removable SDHC Memory card is another great feature. A removable memory card is easier to deal with than internal camera memory. All you need to do is pop the card into your computer, and you have insant access to your images, along with easy editing capability.

.      Battery Life - The average canon battery life is 1.5 hours. This is much better than another brand I recently tried. Canon also has batteries that you can purchase that will double, or in some cases quadruple that.

Your canon HF200 Camcorder comes with everything you need to get started immediately: battery, AC adapter, USB, A/V, remote, and all component video cables. There is a 184 page manual written in English. 2 CDs come with the camera - one software disc allows you to edit and manage your videos, and the other disc allows you to transfer your videos using Pixela Image Mixer 3. There is also a background music CD that you can use while editing those 4 second highlight reels.

While researching comparison products for this review, I found the Canon HF200 Camcorder to have the best battery life among the popular brands available. The image quality, the quick focusing capability, OIS, and the fact that it is incredibly comfortable to hold, makes this camera a definite favorite for me. Not to mention, this camcorder is just plain fun to use. Can you find a cheaper camcorder? Definitely. But, what you won't find in those cheaper models is a variety of hight quality features all included in one small package, as they are with the Canon HF200.
